Missed, Cancelled, Rescheduled Appointments
Your appointment is reserved exclusively for you. Please be considerate of others. If you missed your appointment or cancel at the last minute, I will be unable to care for another student. I have no method of recovering lost revenue due to “no shows” or last minute cancellations.
My students and their families are my first and foremost concern. I schedule my day around my appointments. In many cases, I have foregone other activities in order to be available to your student. Last minute changes mean I not only miss serving your student, it means I missed an opportunity to take care of another student, or to have a life outside my appointments.
I also respect your time. In the event that we have unforeseen problems and will be running late, we will attempt to notify you. Missed appointments, or those cancelled within 24 hours of scheduled appointment time, that cannot be rescheduled to another student will be charged the full value of the missed appointment.
I do realize that there can be circumstances beyond your control and I will always take that into consideration. If you do not agree with our policy, I ask that you do not make an appointment with me.
Time
Billing begins from the time I am ready to work on the student’s assignment. This may mean discussion of it, even if paper, pens, calculator, etc. are not yet set up. If I am late, it comes out of my time. If the student is not ready when I arrive (ie. books out, calculator, pencil, paper, assignment, etc), the time is still billed to the student, since I was ready for the student.
Billing is in quarter hour increments. If we go ten minutes over, you will be billed for the next full quarter hour. Similarly, if we end 25 minutes early, you will be billed for the remaining 10 minutes in the current quarter hour. Students are always encouraged to take full advantage of their time, and I am happy to help with homework in other subjects in order to fully optimize your time. I have helped with English and History papers, research for speeches, and a student body representative campaign over the years, to name a few. It is your time.
Payment
All forms of payment are accepted, including credit cards and Paypal, though, checks are strongly preferred. I use Mobile Deposit to deposit checks, then keep them, in accordance with my bank rules, for 60 days in a secured area. They are then shredded. Returned checks will incur a $35 fee, plus billing at my hourly rate for any time involved in getting a new payment (ie. I have to drive to meet you somewhere to get cash, because you bounced a check). If Small Claims Court is required to recover payment, you will be responsible for all court costs, my hourly rate for my appearance, travel time, mailing and service costs, filing time, and any additional fees required by the Court.
Conclusion
It has been my great pleasure to work with many students over the years and to see their grades and comprehension increase, often exponentially. I have been quite fond of most of my students and their families, and look forward to forging such a relationship with you.
Thank you for your time and consideration of these policies.
